We loved having Hammer, he enjoyed being spoiled and groomed💚 We are SO excited for Hammer’s new forever with his new family, they are going to give him a loving and enjoyable retirement. While SVHC is not closing to the public, we ask that anyone who enters our property take precautions. EHV-1 is a serious illness that is highly contagious, and it’s important that we all do our part to protect our equine partners BY ALL MEANS. Please read this flyer carefully, as SVHC has implemented new precautions to ensure we are doing everything we can to help stop the spread. We had SUCH an awesome time with Best Buddies out at the ranch!💚🙌 If you are unfamiliar, Best Buddies is a nation wide program that helps to reduce the mental health stigma associated with disabilities. It teaches empathy, and acceptance of others that have differences, and creates a sense of belonging in the school system. We had some members from the Best Buddies from Summit Middle School come out, learn all about horse safety, grooming, leading, the power of taking care of a large animal, the power of teamwork and communication, and yes of course everyone got to see our chickens!☺️ Thank you to Best Buddies of Summit Middle School, and thank you to our amazing volunteers that help make programs like this possible!💚🙌🐴

‼️ADOPTION ANNOUNCEMENT‼️ Chewy, a young and handsome BLM mustang from @wildheartshaven , has been adopted!💚💚 When Alice first came to SVHC, she was just looking to sponsor a horse, slowly dipping her feet back into horses after some years away. But tale as old as time, as soon as she met Chewy, she knew they had to have a new forever together. With a lifetime of horse experience, Alice is excited to venture down a new path with her young mustang, as they learn and grow together. Alice will be keeping Chewy at SVHC to further his training. Congratulations to Alice and Chewy!🐴💚🙌

‼️ADOPTION ANNOUNCEMENT‼️ Kruz, one of our lovely Appaloosa geldings from Next Step Horse Rescue, has found his forever home!💚🥹 When Emily saw Kruz, she was immediately drawn to his classic Appaloosa look, his kind eye, and cute trot.🤭 Her patience and kind nature makes her a great match for Kruz, who can be a little timid and spooky at times. She brought him to his new home in Montrose, where they will continue to bond, grow, and learn together💚 Congratulations to Emily and Kruz, we are so excited for both of you!!!🙏🐴💚

Knocking down an old loafinf shed that was collapsing! Many thanks to the incredible volunteers who worked hard on this project!

Thanks to an amazing group of volunteers we finished a huge list of chores and winterization today! The dumpster is full and we cannot move any more of the demolition debris until the dumpster is emptied. So no work tomorrow, Sunday! Thank you to the crew who came today, we achieved an amazing amount!

Meet Cricket💚✨ Cricket is a sweet Arabian mare in her mid 20’s from @horse_rescue_mvhr and is looking for her forever home!! Since Cricket has been at SVHC, we have worked a lot on getting her comfortable and fit, due to her previous founder and laminitis. Before Mountain Valley Horse Rescue had her, it is unclear how long it had been since Cricket was ridden or handled. She has come a long way, being comfortable handled by most, and now starting her journey under saddle again! She is sweet and loves her pasture mates, she just needs a dry lot and low sugar hay!💚 Cricket will be at SVHC until mid November, please send us a message or call 970-389-9797 to set up a time to meet her or for more info!🐴💚

We are excited to announce a new fundraising campaign!💚 Help us prepare for winter by donating, and an anonymous donor will MATCH your donation up to $10,000! ‼️ADOPTION ANNOUNCEMENT‼️ Dakota, a beautiful paint BLM mustang from @wildheartshaven has been officially adopted!🙏💚 Jeanne, one of our dedicated members, started working with Dakota and immediately felt a connection to him. She is a patient, knowledgeable, and understanding horse handler, making her and Dakota a perfect match. Jeanne will be keeping Dakota at SVHC and we are so excited to see their progress together! Shawnee brought Jasper to a local stable in Crestone, where he is already making friends and enjoying the views. We can’t wait to see how these 2 grow and bond together! Our handsome Billy Bob💚 The king of golden hour and the king of the ranch👑🐴 If you’ve been out to SVHC, you probably know Billy Bob! He is our super senior (in his early to mid 30s!) and he roams the ranch freely during the day. His winter coat is coming in thick and he is ready for winter!❄️

‼️ADOPTION ANNOUNCEMENT‼️ Rose, a beautiful thoroughbred from Troublesome Horse Rescue, has found her forever home💚🌹 The moment Rose came to SVHC, Georgia (our youth ambassador!) was in love. She knew she found her horse. She’s worked with her on the ground, ridden in 4H, and despite her busy sports schedule, always finds time for her. Georgia’s family has been nothing but supportive, and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for them! Georgia will keep Rose at SVHC💚

Boomer wants to let you know the fall colors have been AMAZING this year!🍂💚 Boomer is still looking for his forever home! He is unrideable due to lameness, but loves his pasture mates and makes an amazing companion. He loves getting out and getting groomed, and also enjoys light groundwork in arena footing. These spotted boys are so much fun, we can’t believe they haven’t found their forever homes yet! In order, meet Kruz, Reno, and Valor💚 All of these geldings are POA’s and show LOTS of potential. Kruz is a bit timid at first but once he gets to work, he is all focus. He has the cutest little trot and would make an adorable kids horse after he gets some more training. Reno is a baby, and is still figuring out how his legs work! He is charming with his unique coloring and markings, and has grown quite a bit since he arrived at SVHC. He is one to watch! Valor, with his full mane and tail, is flashy and smart. He lunges over jumps, loves being groomed, and is the leader in his little herd. He loves to work and focuses on his handler. Meet our adoptable ponies!🐴💚 Walter is an incredibly handsome little Shetland pony who is waiting for his forever home🧡 He is shy and evasive around people, but once you gain his trust he loves scratches. We could see Walter as a very dashing cart pony one day, since he has such a fancy trot. At SVHC, Walter has lived with our mini donkeys and did well with them, and is fine living next to larger horses. At his rescue, Troublesome Horse Rescue, Walter is turned out with all different horses and does great in a large herd as well! Reigna❤️ is another adorable Shetland pony that is shy and unsure of people. We don’t know much about her past but we do know she was most likley an unhandled broodmare. She loves getting groomed and is finding confidence in our obstacle course! Dreamer🤎 is a young pony who came from a starvation hoarding situation. She came to us extremely timid and showed zero interest in humans. With lots of patience, Dreamer now does great leading, lunging and going through the obstacle course! She has grown A LOT since she came to SVHC and we anticipate her to come into herself as she gets more handling and grows up. She shows lots of potential to be a cute little riding pony! Meet Honey!🍯💚 Honey is a smart and curious 9 year old BLM mustang mare who is looking for her forever home🙏 From @wildheartshaven , Honey was started under saddle by Mindy Bower, and would do well with a lighter, balanced rider. Due to her size, Honey needs intentional training to help build up her strength. She is intelligent and loves being groomed and hanging out with people. ‼️ADOPTION ANNOUNCEMENT‼️ We are SO happy to announce that Sage (from Troublesome Horse Rescue) has been adopted! 💚Sammy saw Sage online and knew she had to meet Sage. They worked together and realized they make a great team! Sammy will keep Sage at SVHC for the remainder of the summer to continue her training, and then will take her to her forever home in Granby. We are SO HAPPY for Sammy and Sage!💚💚🥰

We are SO PROUD of our 3 4H gals who went to the @middleparkfairrodeo this year💚 It has been MANY years since Summit County has been represented in the horse classes at the fair, and we had such a blast with these little cowgirls. They have put in so much work to prepare for fair, along with their 4H workbooks among other things. We loved being there supporting them today, and we can’t wait until next year! We had SUCH a blast at the Keystone Ranch today💚 We need to say a HUGE thank you to anyone who golfed, sponsored, volunteered, or assisted with this event in any way. It’s a lot of work to pull this off, not to mention this year we brought more horses AND mini donkeys!🐴🙌 We so enjoyed riding around the beautiful golf course and visiting golfers on their course, talking about the SVHC mission, and spreading the word about what we do. Have you heard? SVHC has welcomed 12 chickens to our ever-growing clan of animals! 🐣💚 The beautiful hen house was built from scratch by some of our AMAZING volunteers and members, but the whole project was spearheaded by Kristi Revello, a dedicated member and horse owner🙌💚 She is the mastermind behind their feeders and waterers, the coop itself, and the wellbeing of the chickens. We are SO excited to watch these pretty ladies grow, teach everyone (and ourselves!) about chicken keeping, and can’t wait until they start laying eggs! 🐥🐴💚

NEW FOSTER ALERT!💚🐴 From Troublesome Horse Rescue, please welcome Sage and Walter! Sage (grey) is a 5 year old captive born mustang. She is a beautiful grey mare who has been lightly started under saddle, but we hope to refresh her knowledge this summer. She is very sweet and curious, and has lots of forward energy!🌿 Walter is an adorable flaxen chestnut Shetland pony with a big personality. Walter came to THR from the Colorado Horse Rescue Network Mini Pony Makeover Challenge and needs more work with being caught and handled! Come out and meet these 2 along with our other fosters! As the summer of 2024 came to an end, SVHC staff and board made the decision to remain open and boarding horses through the winter. While there were challenges, we decided it was important to remain a resource to our community, helping local horse owners by providing a place for them to board, and also keeping fosters from our rescue partners. Because of the hard work of our volunteers, we were able to successfully keep 20-25 horses at our ranch, running programs and events, having riding lessons, and much more. We thank everyone who helped us this winter and we can’t wait for summer to really kick off!💚🐴🙌

We have been hard at work getting the ranch prepped and ready for summer as our programs begin!🚜💚 A huge project we have been working on is getting run in sheds for all of our dry lots. A few days ago, we had a LARGE delivery of a 12’ x 36’ shed for our biggest dry lot, offering more shelter from wind and rain (and yes, even still snow!❄️) We need to say a BIG THANK YOU to Michael and Carol Obst for sponsoring our shed project. Not only did the Obsts sponsor our beautiful riding arena, but they also have sponsored our entire shed project, which includes 4 large run in sheds total, paneling, and even a ranch truck we will keep on property and use for filling water, chores, etc. THANK YOU to Michael and Carole Obst for your endless support, your help means the world to us! ADOPTION ANNOUNCEMENT!‼️💚 Kash (formerly Flash from @wildheartshaven ) has been adopted by one of our dedicated members, Kristi🥹 When Kash first came to us, he was watchy, extremely protective of his hind end, and very bonded with his mini pony friend, Bronco. Kristi took him under her wing and helped him with fitness, confidence, and handleability. Now he lives with a group of geldings that he loves playing with, he loves attention and even stands very well for the carrier! He even got groomed by a few of our 4H kids🙌💚 Kristi fostered Kash this winter, keeping him at SVHC so she could continue working with him, until deciding ultimately to adopt him. He will remain boarding at SVHC with hopes of being used in programs this summer! Congrats to Kristi and Kash!🐴💚🙌

Everyone please welcome the newest members to the SVHC herd, Daisy and Olive the mini donkeys!🌼💚🥰 We are so excited to welcome these little ladies to SVHC, and we can’t wait to use them in our programs. 2 of our dedicated and AMAZING volunteers adopted these cuties from @hee.haw.donkey.rescue and are allowing us to utilize them for our programs.
